GET 400% MORE PRODUCTIVE WITH FLOW STATE
FLOW STATE
A term coined by a Hungarian American psychologist, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi who saw that flow state was the perfect balance between doing work and the person’s ability to do it, where there was a perfect balance between the right level of exertion and skill involved to do the task at hand. What he saw was that the ability to do the task at hand had to be around a 70% range where the task at hand isn't too far out of a person's ability to do that task while the exerting the effort is comfortable for the person to feel like they can maintain the level for a long period of Time. In a Flow state, many peoples brains shut down where they are tapped into the present moment where all that matters is what they are doing now. In this state it is reported that people are more than 400% more productive and focused at the task at hand. Pain receptors from the body shuts down to where most people who enter this state are in a state of bliss or euphoria.
getting in the flow state
The flow state is a place where people begin to find limitless ability to do amazing things in life. They are able to shut off their mind and hit great heights that are usually unattainable. Tapping into the “ZONE” requires pure unadulterated focus at the task at hand. In running for example, it takes roughly the first 23 minutes of running a long distance race to where the body is fully warmed up and ready to go. 23 minutes is the average amount for humans to focus and really hunker down on a task. At about the 23 minute mark, the body does something remarkable if it properly warmed up where it will continue going and going until the job is finished. For training long distance, a heart rate of about 68% of a max heart rate usually leads to tapping into the flow state. Gradually the brain will shuts off consciously, gradually shuts off, and eventually tapping into the subconscious mind where there is no thoughts whatsoever. All there is doing the task at hand forgetting everything else in life.
Problems getting into the Flow State
So oftentimes we see that people who start and work out in the gym for example or do any particular task, they require a gradually build up to a flow state. It takes so time to “WARM UP” before they do any real work. When people first start exercising, they have to first stretch the body, which is a very low barrier of entry to warming up their body. And then they start doing a little cardio to warm up the body. After that they start with some warm up sets in lifting weights. And then after that, they do a working set that working set after the first initial push that they are not doing the one rep max, but they're doing a working set that is very comfortable for them, which is about 80% of what they can do for about four to five reps. On the first set, they feel at ease at peace, in a flow state where they know what is comfortable to them, and they know exactly what they can lift. And after that, they gradually go into a flow state where their mind continues to shut off more and more. And they start to just naturally be in tune with their body. Naturally know this is how much I can lift, and this is how much I can do without overexerting ourselves. So we see that oftentimes people, they try to break into this flow state without properly warming up their body, warming up their mind, working, warming up at the task.
This is why many people quit things so easily because it doesn’t feel natural to them at first. People make New Years Resolutions to lose weight in the gym or to make more money for example. They rush in way too hard putting all their energy into getting to where they want to go eventually leading them to feel sore and pain. Many times, that pain is too much to bear that they have a negative association between the task and the process eventually quitting. Relationships or anything that gets built is the same way. It requires warming up.
School, especially people have a paper due. People have a paper due and they seem to have writer's block where they just see a black screen and they don't know what to write or even how to start it because all they see is a blank screen and they see a end destination, but it takes warming up the body, warming up the mind first to get everything rolling. And once it starts rolling, you just coast off that momentum and that momentum drives people forward. So for all the students out there in writing a paper, it starts with just going on a brain dump. So go on a separate sheet of, of word document and just start typing out everything that is in your mind, or just open your iPhone and the voice memo app. And just speaking out everything that comes to your mind, then you find either AI to translate, or you just look over the points and start spitting out everything.
You start putting down all you know about that subject changing it into an outline. And from that outline, you have a roadmap now which will help guide you into the proper direction, and it will flow and become a state where everything is guided into a proper place where you can just start filling in the blanks of the top bullet points. And eventually after a while, you're going to realize like, Hey, this paper is done. All my ideas are there and everything is set in a completed in the same way with going into the gym or working out, you have a set, um, guideline, a set plan. When you have a plan in play, this is where flow state will be allowed to function. So for working out, just have a set amount of distance. You want to run, for example, in a clear map of where to run, then all your body needs to focus on is doing the task at hand, which is running everything else doesn't even matter.
what is flow state?
Flow state is just being in that present moment when they realize that the only thing that matters is a present moment. What is currently doing? What is getting done right now? The actions at hand, everything else that comes in your brain does not matter. There's no external thoughts. There's no this or that. There's just what is being done in the present moment, which takes time and a great way to enter the flow state would be in the morning, just taking a cold shower, taking a cold shower, heightens your sense of alertness, sense of focus. When all your blood gets constricted into the essential vital areas of the body, the body starts to focus on what it needs to do to survive what it needs to do to function. And by doing that, it removes all the excess junk away to where you only need the bare essentials to focus and to do what is needed to be done. So getting
The flow state is removing all the excess from life, all the excess noise, the excess junk to where it's just you and what you are doing in the present moment. All the extra noise, all the weeds in the garden, all the unnecessary thoughts will go away. When you are just focused on one thing, one thing, and we know that multitasking doesn't work, multitasking is just a person's ability to simultaneously switch between two tasks at hand. When in reality, they are very good at switching between two tasks, but the brain is even better when there's only one thing in there to focus on one thing that is needed to get done. And when you find that one thing that needs to do make a game plan, a plan of action, an outline of what needs to get done, your brain will subconsciously fill in the rest to where after you complete it, you'll realize, how did I get here?
How did I do this? It's because your brain goes into a subconscious state where it shuts off the conscious mind into letting the subconscious just flow flow into getting the task done. And by that you get into a flow state. And when you're in flow state, you're 400 times more productive. This is why most people, when they get in a flow state, one hour of work that they do is equivalent to four hours of work for another person where they just feel at ease at peace, where they can complete one days of work for an entire week. This is why you see high performers. You see millionaires or billionaires where they can move and do things at an incredible speeds. Cuz they're constantly in a flow state. They have no distractions at play where one day of work for them is equivalent to weeks of work for another normal person because they have no distractions.
BUILDING FOCUS
So you know how to focus at the task. At hand, we look at Andrew Carnegie who built, uh, his wealth generational wealth. Within 10 years of his life. When the government came to question him, they questioned him. How did he make so much money so quickly? They asked him, how did you make hundreds of millions upon billions of dollars so quickly in his life? And he asked them, can you keep your attention focused on a thought for how long he asked, how long can you keep your attention focused on one thought? And they all tried it. They tried it. And we see it now where this, these government people have the same attention span as this new generation nowadays where their attention span is only seven seconds long.
A goldfish has a attention span of 8.5 seconds long while Andrew Carnegie told them I'm able to keep my thoughts, my attention on one singular thought for five minutes straight. And by having it kept for five minutes straight, I'm actually able to keep on thinking and thinking and thinking of more and more solutions and possibilities. Your attention goes where your focus is and your focus is we'll produce where you want to go in life. So by keeping your attention, the most valuable asset at hand, you will begin to find peace, find happiness, find joy in life.
